Milani Retro Glam Collection Swatches & Review

Review

Retro Glam is one of the two collections that Milani Cosmetics will be releasing on August. FYI: some stores already carry them. Similar to Fantastical Plumage (see the swatches here), Retro Glam is composed of five nail-polishes and a fun top coat. It is my favorite collection. These colors are super "sweet" and can be used year round. As mentioned in my review of the Fantastical Plumage collection, these products were sent by Milani for review, and it was my first time using Milani nail-polishes. I have to say that I'm happily surprised. The quality of the nail-polish is extraordinary.

Lasting Power

The lasting power (without a base and top coat) is GREAT! I'm not going to lie, I had my doubts, but during my trials I did not utilize any sort of base or top-coat, and the nail-polish lasted about three-four days without any chipping. After that, only one nail chipped. I tend to change my nail polish once or twice a week, and most of them don't last as long without a base coat.

Brush

If you do your nails often, you know that a nail-polish needs to have a good brush that allows you to have control and apply the right amount of polish. The brush in these nail-polishes works great. I did not have a problem with it.

Pros

The pros of these nail-polishes are that 1) the colors are super trendy, 2) the top coats are super cute and fun, and 3) they cost approximately $4.49.

Cons

I don't know if it was just me, but I felt the smell to be a little too strong, stronger than other polishes. Also, Almond Bliss required about three coats (four on some nails) for it to look good. I did have to leave each coat dry for about a minute, so that it wouldn't "mess-up" the previous nail coat. Other than that, I love the consistency and lasting power of these polishes. The Retro Glam collection is definitely more "me." Although I love the Fantastical Plumage colors, the pinks and greens (especially mint) are my all-time favorite.

My Favorite Colors

If I had to choose three colors from this collection I would choose:

1) Strawberry Shake- I love this color for every day.

2) Almond Bliss- This color is quite unique (to me at least). It is not white, but not yellow. Despite what I mentioned above, the color looks super cute. It is a great alternative to white.

3) Sprinkles- I'm BAD at doing any nail designs, and I love how I'm able to have something different on my nails that looks complicated, but that only requires a swipe of Sprinkles on my nails and, Ta Da! I'm done!

Reseña

Retro Glam es una de las dos nuevas colecciones de Milani Cosmetics que saldra a la venta en Agosto. Algunas tiendas ya la venden. Igual a la colección de Fantastical Plumage (mira los swatches aquí), Retro Glam esta compuesta de cinco barnices de color y uno transparente súper divertido que va arriba de cualquier esmalte. Como mencione en la reseña de Fantastical Plumage, estos esmaltes fueron enviados por Minali par hacer una reseña. Esta es mi primera vez utilizando esmaltes de Milani, y honestamente tenia mis reservas, pero termine felizmente sorprendida. La calidad de estos esmaltes es realmente extraordinaria.

Durabilidad

La durabilidad (sin usar una base transparente para prolongar el color) es MUY BUENA! No voy a mentir, tenia mis duas, pero durante los días que estuve probando los esmaltes no utilize ninguna base. El esmalte me duro aproximadamente de tres a cuatro días sin caerse. Despues de eso solo se me cayo en una que otra uña. Yo normalmente me cambio de esmalte una vez por semana, y siempre tengo que usar un "top coat" (capa transparente) para que me dure el color, pero estos esmaltes no necesitaron de eso.

Brocha

Si te pintas las uñas seguido, sabes que los esmaltes devén tener una buena brocha que te permita tener control para aplicar la cantidad adecuada. Las brochas de estos esmaltes son muy buenas y no tube ningún problema con la aplicación.

Pros

Los pros de estos esmaltes es que 1) tienen colores a la moda, 2) las bases de arriba (como Sprinkles) estan super padres y son divertidas, y 3) solo cuestan $4.49!

Cons

No se si solo soy yo, pero senti que el olor de los esmaltes era muy fuerte, mas que el de otros esmaltes. Tambien, cuando aplique el esmalte Almod Bliss, tuve que aplicar tres capas (cuatro en algunas uñas) para que se mirara bien. Tambien tuve que dejar secar cada capa para que no se estropeara la capa anterior. Sin embargo, todo lo demas me gusto. La coleccion Retro Glam es sin duda mas "yo." Aunque la coleccion Fantastical Plumage tambien me gusto mucho, los colores rosa y verdes (especialmente el menta) siguen siendo mis favoritos para el diario.

Mis Colores Favoritos

Si tuviera que escoger solo tres colores de esta colección escogería:

1) Strawberry Shake- Este color es el rosa perfecto para diario.

2) Almond Bliss- Este color es unico a mi parecer. No es blanco, ni amarillo. Aunque mencione arriba que no me gusto que tuve que aplicar varias capas, el color en si me gusta bastante.

3) Sprinkles- Soy MALISIMA para hacer diseños de uñas, así que me encanta que con este esmalte solo agrego una capa de Sprinkles y Ta Da! Ya termine. Y mis uñas se ven genial.
